As part of our mission “to help people forge meaningful connections to Churchill County’s natural and cultural heritage, strengthen community ties and shape its future,” we strive to create an experience as accessible to everyone as possible. If you have specific needs or concerns not addressed on this page, please contact us by calling (775)-423-3677 or emailing museum.host@churchillcountynv.gov, and our staff will do their best to accommodate you.

ASD/Sensory Issues: The museum has 3 sensory packs available to borrow free of charge. These include sunglasses, headphones, liquid motion timers, fidget tools, and communication cards. Please also see our sensory map below. Any exhibits (though especially our Discovery Room) can be loud at peak times. The museum is generally less busy during winter, in the afternoon, and on Sundays.

Blindness/Low Vision: If you wish to schedule a guided tour with a docent to assist in interpretation, please contact us by clicking here. As we redo our permanent exhibitions, we are working to improve readability for visitors with low vision.

Deafness/Hard of Hearing: Videos within the museum are subtitled, and a transcript of the audio components from “Footprints in Time: Carson Desert Communities in Transition” may be obtained at the front desk.

Mobility/Wheelchair Use: All exhibits except for the Woodliff building are wheelchair accessible. The museum has one wheelchair available to borrow free of charge. Our parking lot has accessible parking spots and a ramp to the main entrance. Chairs and benches are distributed through the museum.

Photosensitivity: Our virtual reality experiences are not recommended for photosensitive individuals. We use LED lighting throughout our building which may begin to flicker upon failure. Though we do our best to address such issues as soon as possible, we cannot guarantee they will be in constant working order.

Service Animals: Service animals are welcome at the Churchill County Museum.
