AAPI Highlight – Hinamatsuri Dolls

This week for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we’re showing off our Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Day) dolls. Every March 3rd, Japanese families with young daughters display dolls like these, which represent a Heian Period (794-1185) royal wedding. Simple sets consist of the emperor and empress dolls (like these two), but displays can become much more elaborate and feature the entire court.
