AAPI Highlight – mahjong tile

This year for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month we’re going to be celebrating Asian influences in our collection. This mahjong piece is made of bone with a bamboo back held on with dovetailing. It was likely discarded or lost by Chinese miners in Virginia City around 1900, then later found and donated to CCM.
