World’s Longest Telegram

Today in 1874, the Nevada State Constitution was sent to Congress over a telegraph line similar to this one (though this photo was taken in the 1920s). This was the longest telegram ever sent, costing over $4,000! To learn more about our state’s early history, visit our 1860s exhibit!
