Happy Birthday, VFW!

Today in 1899, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) was founded in Columbus, OH. Today, there are chapters all over the country, including right here in Fallon. This picture is the VFW’s entry in the 1980 Labor Day parade!

Black and white photo of a light-colored classic car festooned with streamers. A young girl sits on a blanket on the hood above a sign saying “VFW Buddy Poppy Queen 1980-81. One man in an army cap sits in the driver’s seat and one in the back seat. Their doors say “VFW-1002 Commander and President” and “VFW Dist-4 cmdr.” Respectively
