Today, there are very few trees on Williams Avenue, but it used to be one of the the most heavily forested places in the county! This image, taken around 1907, shows the intersection of what is now Williams and Maine (It’s hard to tell with the roof covered, but the building on the left is the courthouse!)
The city has added trees along Maine, though they’re nowhere near as tall. In honor of Arbor day, what do you think? Should we plant trees along Williams again?
