Operation Haylift

The winter of 1949 had been the worst one since 1889. Millions of sheep and cattle were stranded in the mountains with no feed. The U.S Air Force deployed pilots and cargo planes to provide over 525 tons of alfalfa called Operation Haylift.  They fed 1 million sheep and 100 heads of cattle. #SaveTheCows
