Teacher In-Service Begins September 25th!

The Churchill County Museum’s Teacher In-Service begins Tuesday, September 25th. Teachers/Educators can earn 1 renewal credit of continuing education. Pre-registration is required!

The fee for this course is $35 for non-members, FREE for CCMA Members! An ‘Individual’ membership is $25 – save $10.00 and enjoy the member benefits!

This course is open to anyone requiring continuing education; pre-register at the museum by September 22nd!

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  It was a time of prosperity and a time of crisis. The 1920s was an era of huge artistic, political, economic, and social growth. It was also an era of prohibition, racism, and lawlessness. The Roaring Twenties: Booze, Brawlers, and Broads examines the rapid changes that occurred throughout the decade and their far-reaching effects, answering the question: “What put the roar in the Roaring Twenties?”


September 25th:  5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (Introduction and First Lecture) / 2.5 hours

October 2nd:  6:00 – 8:00 p.m. / 2 hours

October 9th:  6:00 – 8:00 p.m. / 2 hours

October 13th:  10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon (Saturday, Walking Tour) / 2 hours

October 16th:  6:00 – 8:00 p.m. / 2 hours

October 23rd:  6:00 – 8:00 p.m. / 2 hours

October 30th:  6:00 – 8:30 p.m. (Movie, Conclusion) / 2.5 hours

Tuesday, October 2nd at 6:00 p.m.:  Dr. Michael Fischer, Nevada Humanities/Humanities on the Road Presenter, Tonopah’s Soft Drink Parlors and the Rise of Nevada’s Next Gambling Generation

Tuesday, October 9th at 6:00 p.m.:  Guy Clifton, Journalist, Author, and Nevada Division of Tourism Specialist, Dempsey in Nevada

Tuesday, October 13th at 6:00 p.m.:  Prohibition in Reno, Historic Reno Preservation Society Walking Tour

Tuesday, October 16th at 6:00 p.m.:  Dr. Anita Ernst Watson, Author and University of Nevada Professor, Altering Reality: Women in the 1920s

Tuesday, October 23rd at 6:00 p.m.:  Neal Cobb, Author, Historian, Saving and Restoring the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union Fountain

and Tuesday, October 30th at 6:00 p.m.:  The Roaring Twenties, shown at the Historic Fallon Theatre!

All lectures will be held at the Churchill County Museum, 1050 South Maine Street, Fallon, Nevada

The walking tour will be held in Reno, Nevada (Transportation is not provided.)
