Mom’s Place on West Williams Street – anyone remember it? Originally owned by Mrs.
Emily Mitchell, it was eventually purchased by the Lauf Corporation and torn down in 1982.
Revered among all the air wings visiting Fallon NAS. Mom made we Navy folk her target market and enjoyed our patronage. Above the bar there were photos of Mom in nearly every single aircraft in the USN / USMC inventory from the 1950s on. One of these photos now resides in the Officers Club at the base.
Wonderful memories from early 70s. “Mom” had single deck blackjack for 50 cent min along with dime craps. Decent steak dinner, cold beer. What more could a young naval aviator wish for?
I remember it. She was my great great aunt. We used to stop and visit her in the summer while traveling between California and utah.
