Drones are part of Fallon’s history. During an episode of “History Detectives” it came to light that a Fallon company supplied propeller’s for the Navy in the 1940s for the first pilot-less drone program: Project Option. From History Detectives: “The idea was to save pilotsʼ lives: create a remote-controlled plane, strapped with thousands of pounds of explosives, to perform bombing raids over Europe and Japan.” The program investigated a wooden propeller believed to have come from one of those first drones – and it was traced back to Aeromatic Propeller of Fallon, owned by Kent Tarver – featured speaker at the CC Museum Lecture Series. this Tuesday. Should be interesting.
