Museum Docents

about how you can become a Churchill County Museum Docent!!!

Would you like to help the Churchill County Museum spread the word about our county's history to visiting school children? If the answer is "yes," join us in becoming a docent for the museum!

Docents are the very special people who learn about the history of the area, and help interpret it for visiting groups of children and adults. No special educational requirement is needed, and we'll provide the learning materials.  You provide a commitment of time, energy and enthusiasm by being prepared to attend a seven-week training course, and then volunteering for at least four hours per month.

Museum Docent Dottie Parr helps a young museum visitor learn the art of weaving on the loom during a museum special event.

What becoming a Docent will do for you:

bulletImprove your self-confidence
bulletLearn about our local history
bulletFeel good teaching today's children about the past

Our children's tours include those that cover the full museum, tours that are focused to specific parts of the museum, and tours that travel to the schools.

Some teachers request tours that include special hands-on activities and   demonstrations. Our tours offer something for people of all ages!
