Back by popular demand, our 7-week public lecture series
will begin Tuesday, February 19. These lectures are free and open to the
public and begin at 7:30 each Tuesday evening. Here’s the tentative lineup:
February 19: Sue Ann Montelone, Assistant Curator of History at the
Nevada State Museum in Carson City, will speak on the topic of historic
Native American basketwork and prehistoric rock art.
February 26: Frances Hooper, member of the local Paiute-Shoshone
tribe, will speak on Native American lifeways in the Lahontan Valley.
March 5: Chautauqua presentation on the Overland Trail (historical
character to be announced)
March 12: Topic: Railroads in Nevada (speaker to be announced)
March 19: Video on the Newlands Project and insight into some of the
men who built Derby and Lahontan Dams, presented by Museum Staff members.
March 26: Potpourri: Little known facts about Fallon history, unique
items in the museum’s collection and tips on how
to care for your own family heirlooms and photographs.
April 2: Speaker: Americana Appraiser and Nevada historian Fred
Holabird.
